The .red Monthly December 2019

5 Articles to Promote Thought, Encourage Reflection and Ignite Action

Welcome to final .red Monthly for 2019. As we approach the end of the Gregorian Calendar˚, I thought it would be timely to share this post around end of year reflections and rituals.

˚Did you know? When the Gregorian calendar was introduced by Pope Gregory XIII in October 1582, there was a 10 day difference between calendar and reality (in relation to the equinoxes, so the calendar advanced from 4 October to 15 October 1582 as a correction.

  1. In the final episode for 2019 of the Safety on Tap podcast, Andrew Barrett encouraged us to slow down, reflect and grow. Andrew shares is highs and lows of the year and reflects on his word of the year - FLOURISH. Listen to his honest reflections here, and his encouragement to us all to use reflection as a powerful way for you to tap into your own learning. Take a look over your shoulder to see what’s happened this past year.

  2. Jessica Stillman wrote a contribution for Inc. sharing her 7 Best Year-End Rituals for Leaders. Now, this I’m sure these helpful tips aren’t just for leaders, or for having a successful 2017 (being a post from Dec 2016), however these rituals will definitely help tune up psychology for success.

  3. Get yourself a planner. Better yet, get yourself a Full Focus Planner from Michael Hyatt and Company. My Dad and I have been following Michael Hyatt’s FFP methodology for a couple of years now, and I know it’s helped me get better at prioritising and achieving my goals. It has a simple three-step system, which connects your big annual goals to your daily action so you’re always making progress.

  4. I’ve been listening to the following (some of my favourite) Podcasts over this year, and think they are worth sharing for others to hear as well. They include Safety ThirdCoaching for LeadersFocus on ThisThe Learning LeaderSubtle DisruptorsSafety on Tap, and The Cleverness.

  5. Speaking about cleverness… My friend, and Archwizard of Ambiguity (most fantastic), Jason Fox has released his Choose One Word˚˚ online programme - a self-paced guide to your annual ritual of becoming. I'm working through the programme now (and am almost finished percolating on my guiding word for 2020) - I’ll share this soon!

Enter the code ‘SPECIALNESS’ (before you check out) to get a $50 discount on lifetime access (this code is valid until December 31st). Registering will give you lifetime access to this program, and the whimsy of Dr Fox, to choose your word over 3 hours, 3 days or 3 weeks.

Choosing One Word doesn’t just have to align with a calendar new year, it could be the lunar new year, a birthday, solstices, equinoxes, April Fool’s Day, or anniversaries.

˚˚ This is an affiliate link which gifts me $50 for spreading the word. If you use it, and are willing, I’d be more than happy to shout us coffee, breakfast, or a sneaky cocktail to discuss our Word for 2020! Just shoot me an email.
